Calcium Carbonate for PVC Furniture Edge Banding
If you produce PVC furniture edge banding, the filler must suit both the visible finish and the way the strip bends.
Relia's calcium carbonate range can be reviewed against your formulation, thickness and finishing process.

Manufacturing Support for This Purchase
Relia manufactures ground, precipitated and selected surface-coated calcium carbonate grades in China through its own factories.
We can review the carbonate enquiry with your strip's practical requirements in view. Share the current filler, plasticiser system where relevant, intended loading and the appearance limits after bending. Our proposed grade should be identified by its own specification before your team compares it in the complete edge-band formulation.

Surface and Flexibility Together
For furniture edge banding, appearance needs to survive the strip's forming and joining requirements. The 701 grade is a specific starting point because its listing names edge banding and provides particle and oil-demand data. We compare it with hard-plastic and coated-GCC alternatives using your actual strip requirements.

Edge-Banding Candidates and Their Limits
| Review area | Listed data and acceptance basis | Use in your selection |
|---|---|---|
| 701 · 6544 | The title states 130±10nm and DOP oil absorption no more than 22ml/100g. Retain DOP and the unit in comparisons. | Use this item to define the candidate and the evidence needed for your application. |
| 501 · 6540 | A hard-plastic candidate with listed whiteness at least 95%. Edge-banding performance still needs its own strip trial. | Match the stated measurement method and compare the appearance in your finished material. |
| Coated GCC · 6499 | The entry states at least 98.5% CaCO3 and 600–3000 mesh options. Confirm the offered treatment and selected grade. | Use the same particle measurement basis, then review dispersion and the result in your process. |
| Finished strip | Set colour, surface, bending and joining criteria against the actual thickness, formulation and process. | Match the stated measurement method and compare the appearance in your finished material. |

The Edge-Banding Trial
Use the intended resin, plasticiser package and strip thickness for each candidate. Review dispersion, surface marks, bend behaviour and relevant joining results together. A low DOP absorption figure helps organise the comparison but does not by itself establish adhesion or flexibility in the finished edge banding.

Cross-use approval
Validate edge banding directly.
Single result
Review finish and bending together.
Unclear data
Confirm methods before comparing.
Particle Preparation and Surface Condition
For edge banding, classification and any surface modification influence the particle population dispersed through a thin strip. Agglomerates or a changed treatment may affect processing and appearance even where nominal mesh matches. Compare the supplied powder condition and the finished strip under the same bending and finishing conditions.
GCC: dry and wet routes
Relia uses both dry- and wet-grinding routes for GCC. Grinding and classification are connected to the selected powder's particle specification.
PCC: crystal formation
Relia produces PCC through calcination, slaking and carbonation. The precipitation route forms new particles rather than only grinding the starting mineral.
Selected surface-coated grades
Relia applies surface coating to selected carbonate grades. The actual treatment and intended application remain part of the grade discussion.
Defined carbonate checks
Routine batch checks cover whiteness, moisture and purity. Particle size and oil absorption are checked according to the grade or order requirements.
- Distribution
- Retain average size, D50 and D97 as their actual reported measurements.
- Surface
- Connect a treatment declaration with the application and absorption or wetting evidence.
- Identity
- Keep the selected grade and relevant method with the sample comparison.
An Approved Strip and Powder
Keep the accepted strip, filler sample and grade specification linked. We discuss repeat material supply using that reference. Changes in treatment or processing deserve a fresh review when they affect the agreed finish or flexibility.

Connect the Next Purchasing Step
If you make rigid PVC pipe, choose calcium carbonate around pipe performance and acceptable production cost.
If white PVC profiles show colour variation or surface defects, the filler enquiry needs more than a powder-whiteness figure.
If calcium carbonate is being considered for PVC calendered film, begin with film thickness and the defects your line must avoid.
