Wollastonite Selection for Ceramic Formulations
If you buy wollastonite for ceramics, start with batch chemistry and the fired body or glaze you need.
Relia's listed calcium-silicate grades provide oxide and particle information for a shortlist.

Manufacturing Support for This Purchase
Relia manufactures wollastonite calcium-silicate materials in China through its own factories.
Our ceramic wollastonite enquiry should identify the body or glaze and its firing conditions. Share the current mineral, required oxide contribution and appearance limits with Relia. The proposed grade's chemistry and particle specification should remain explicit before comparing its behaviour in your actual batch.

The Ceramic Role
For a ceramic batch, the calcium and silica contribution matters alongside the supplied particle form. Our two wollastonite entries have different listed iron limits. We compare the offered oxide analysis with your formulation before deciding which grade should enter the firing trial.

Wollastonite Chemistry for Ceramic Formulations
| Review area | Listed data and acceptance basis | Use in your selection |
|---|---|---|
| Wollastonite · 6623 | The entry lists CaO 41–43%, SiO2 49–51% and Fe2O3 no more than 0.2%. Review each limit separately. | Use this item to define the candidate and the evidence needed for your application. |
| Acicular entry · 6380 | SiO2 is listed 48–51% with Fe2O3 no more than 1.2%. This is a different impurity window. | Keep chemical identity, assay basis and the actual offered grade in the same specification. |
| Particle option | The entries span 200–2000 mesh or 800/1250 mesh options. Confirm the actual supplied grading. | Use the same particle measurement basis, then review dispersion and the result in your process. |
| Ceramic role | State body or glaze use, oxide limits, preparation and firing conditions before comparing the material. | Use this item to define the candidate and the evidence needed for your application. |

Firing and Dimensions Together
Run the offered grades in the intended ceramic formulation, with preparation and firing conditions recorded. Review fired dimensions, colour, surface and the other product requirements together. An engineering-plastics reinforcement description does not establish the same grade's ceramic suitability.

Shape alone
Does not establish ceramic suitability.
Polymer claims
Do not replace fired evidence.
Changing chemistry
Needs a relevant review.
Separation and Shape-Sensitive Size Reduction
Mineral separation influences associated impurities, and size reduction determines the fraction introduced into the ceramic mix. In this application, oxide contribution and firing behaviour can matter differently from reinforcement aspect ratio. Review both the chemistry and preparation route, then use matched ceramic specimens to evaluate the actual contribution to the fired product.
Identify the source material
Wollastonite is a calcium-silicate mineral with associated chemistry and impurity considerations.
Separate associated minerals
Relevant separation stages are intended to control non-target material, with the actual result established by grade analysis.
Reduce and classify
Size reduction affects length and acicular character as well as the nominal size fraction.
Retain application evidence
A polymer reinforcement and a ceramic oxide addition need different acceptance measurements.
- Chemistry
- Keep the actual oxide ranges and impurity limits separately visible.
- Morphology
- Request length or aspect-ratio evidence where shape is a selection criterion.
- Processing
- Check the grade in the actual compounding or firing sequence used for the product.
A Ceramic Purchase Reference
Keep the accepted fired sample and raw-material analysis linked to the grade. We discuss repeat supply from that record. A change in composition, source or firing process can then be assessed against known requirements.

Connect the Next Purchasing Step
If you source kaolin for a white ceramic body or glaze, the firing result matters more than the raw powder colour.
If you need acicular wollastonite for a polymer composite, buy the particle shape as carefully as the chemistry.
If you buy quartz sand for glassmaking, a high SiO2 figure must be accompanied by the impurity and grading data your glass batch needs.
